We're here! Our first Dulles airport experience actually wasn't bad (of course, it was a Saturday). The flight time was odd, 4:20, and I don't think I want to take that one again. Our thinking was if there were snow, we still had a chance to catch a flight to Paris that day. Anyway, it got in at 11:00pm DC time, which adds a whole nuther level to jet lag.
How's this for starting out vacation?
This was at a wine bar in Dulles called Vino Volo. I got the "Valentine Sparkler Flight," and no, the red wasn't as scary as it looks. ;-)
And, of course, it wouldn't be a plane ride without the nasty airline food.
Tom got the beef:
I got the pasta:
The flight arrived 50 minutes early, and we weren't scheduled to meet the rental agent until 8:00. So we hopped in a cab, arrived at the apartment and then searched for a cafe. Easy, right? Nope, not at Sunday morning before 7:00! So there we were, very close to Pigalle, and let's just say there are a lot of interesting characters that time of day. We finally found an open cafe, and there were clearly people in there who had been up all night (so were we, as Tom pointed out!). Two people were eating a late....supper? Anyway, deux cafes and an hour later, we met the agent. The apartment was pictured as shown, no surprises....except, oh yeah, the elevator's not working! We're on the French 4th floor. It's getting fixed today, Sunday. Really? Stay tuned....
